Required Procedure to Import Customs Clearance Products in India

Import and export of goods in India require to undergo customs clearance process. As per the custom broker exam books India, the importer, and exporter of the goods should verify documents to clear customs clearance procedure. Also as par, the rules mentioned in customs brokers licensing regulations 2013 all the imported goods must meet all the terms and condition of Article 11 of the Customs Act, 1962. Here are some of the major steps required to Import customs clearance products in India.




Calling of Vessels -


At the time when the vessels carrying the goods reaches the country, the person with the vessels should make sure that the calling of vessels is done at the customs port. To get better and instance delivery goods are imported via air mode, here the pilot is responsible for calling of Vessels at the customs airport. Further, there is no requirement for the importer to involve in the process whether it is done by the airline or shipping line.


Filing Import General Manifest (IGM)


Here the in-charge-person of the vehicle file an Import General Manifest electronically before the delivered goods arrive.


Post Verification Operations


To verify the Import General Manifest and post verification of documents, the authorities of customs grant entry inwards to the vessel, also assign an IGM number which manifests and permit the vessel to land and unloads the cargo.


Custody of Custodian


After that, the goods remain in the custody of the custodian until the goods clear the remaining process. As mentioned in custom broker exam books, those goods could be unloaded only during the working hours and under the supervision of selected authorities.


Filing Bill of Entry


Before or on arrival of the goods, the importer needs to file a bill of entry for the clearance of the goods, bills such as a bill of entry, the duty, and taxes to be paid. At the time of the bill of Entry, the importer needs to pay the GDT and other duties which will be entered in the Indian Customs Electronic Date Interchange System (ICEDIS).

Further, the imported need to submit the bill of entry, the duty-paid challan and other documents to the port authorities for permitting clearance.
